Our services
Capitalization
Turning accumulated experience into shared knowledge, so that practices that work can inspire others, spread and evolve.
Capitalizing to share
International solidarity actors, whether they work at community, national or international level, produce valuable knowledge every day and have a particularly rich, situated experience. Capitalization makes it possible to identify this knowledge and experience and put it in writing, so that it can be shared and reused within the organisation or across the sector.
We support the capitalization of practices, approaches and changes, at the scale of a project, a multi-country programme or several consortia. Our approach always starts from the situated knowledge of teams, partners and the people concerned, and relies on popular education tools that help everyone express themselves.
We design safe and inclusive spaces for exchange, including on sensitive topics, and we know how to facilitate multilingual gatherings bringing together organisations from many countries. The lessons learned are then turned into useful and accessible formats, designed to be genuinely used by teams and their partners.
What we offer
Capitalization studies
Identifying, analysing, cross-referencing and sharing the practices, approaches and experiences of people and organisations around a common theme.
Facilitation of seminars and workshops
Design and facilitation of multi-country, multilingual gatherings, using participatory tools drawn from popular education that foster peer-to-peer exchange.
Exploratory studies
Broad-scope studies, such as overviews or stakeholder mappings, that capture experiences, knowledge and data on a given theme or topic at sector level.
Participatory action research
Support for collective processes in which participants design, test and analyse approaches and tools, and then draw shared lessons from them.
How a capitalization process unfolds
Each process is tailor-made, but it usually follows five stages designed to ensure that lessons are shared and used.
Inception
Defining the subject of the capitalization, the questions to explore and the audiences it is meant for.
Gathering experiences
Interviews, practice narratives, field visits and workshops with teams, partners and the people concerned.
Collective analysis
Analysis workshops to identify what works, under what conditions and why.
Producing materials
Writing and designing materials tailored to their intended uses and audiences.
Dissemination and ownership
Dissemination workshops and exchange sessions so that lessons feed into practice.
